Empowerment Through Official Disability Status

The project supported people whose war-related injuries resulted in disability. Its main goal was to help those affected navigate the complex process of obtaining official disability status and gain access to the state payments, social guarantees, and benefits available to them.

The project's target audience included both civilians affected by the war and ex-combatants wounded in combat.

Partner Network

A broad partner network was built to implement the project. In particular, the organization established partnerships with victim and witness support units of prosecutor's offices in six regions, as well as with social protection institutions, veteran spaces, and other organizations working with people affected by the war.

Project implementation coincided with a reform of Ukraine's medical and social disability assessment system and the introduction of new disability determination procedures. The project became an important source of information and support, helping people understand the new rules, prepare the necessary documents, and go through the process of obtaining their status.

The project was implemented with support from the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Ukraine and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
